In this exclusive premium course, you will create your very own Japanese umbrella, choosing from carefully selected washi paper and fine threads to design a piece that exists nowhere else in the world. The course takes about two hours of crafting, leaving you ample time to enjoy Kanazawa’s sights and culinary delights. Surrounded by the serene atmosphere of the artisan’s studio, you will be guided through a process that blends artistry with heritage. Once complete, your umbrella will be meticulously finished by the craftsman and delivered to your home, ensuring a worry-free journey. We create not only traditional Japanese umbrellas, but also new expressions of wagasa using innovative materials.
For example, we craft umbrellas with pierced washi paper or uniquely plant-dyed washi, enjoying each encounter with a different material as part of the creative process.
Each wagasa is completed through the hands of many artisans — from the rib maker and lathe craftsman to the washi paper artisan. Through this craft, we aim to connect people with Japanese culture and handcraft traditions, and to serve as a bridge between Japan and the world.
Through our wagasa, we hope to bring a touch of color and inspiration to your life.
和傘傘森の特徴は伝統的な傘だけではなく、新しい素材、表現の和傘をお作りしております。
たとえば穴の空いた和紙や、特殊な草木染め和紙などを使用し、素材との出会いを楽しみながら和傘作りをさせていただいております。
傘骨、ろくろ、和紙など、多くの人を介して完成する和傘。日本の文化や手仕事を通して、あなたに、また世界とつながるきっかけとして和傘傘森の和傘は存在しております。和傘を通して、皆様の人生を彩るお手伝いをさせていただきます。
